HJAIA 1075 EMPLOYEE PARKING LOT

HARTSFIELD-JACKSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

We were contacted by a long-time general contractor to help them with a large project at Hartsfield-Jackson airport.  This project required some extension grading and GAB rock installation to prepare an old, underutilized parking lot, into a large new parking facility

that would service the employees of a large airline. Additionally, the lot will be used as a transportation hub for the 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP.    Below is the scope of work requiring approximately 6,000 tons of asphalt and 4,000 tons of GAB rock base.  Multiple crews were used for base installation and prep work, and the final asphalt topping layer was placed in 5 days.   Total value of project was approximately $ 1.4 million.

Asphalt Work:
Install approx. 14,064 SY of asphalt paving.
Install and fine grade 6 inches GAB. Install 2 inches 19mm binder. Apply tack to binder. Install 2 inches 12.5mm topping. GAB and asphalt will be compacted to proper density using vibratory steel wheel and pneumatic tire rollers. Hydrated lime will be added to asphalt.

Mill and overlay approx. 21,750 SY of existing topping.
Profile mill an average of 2 inches existing topping. Haul millings to an approved dump site and broom surface. Install 4.75mm leveling course in low areas to provide a uniform overlay across the existing area. Apply tack to surface. Install 2 inches 12.5mm topping. Asphalt will be compacted to proper density using vibratory steel wheel and pneumatic tire rollers. Hydrated lime will be added to asphalt.

Patch area in Loop Road for new utility.

Haul millings to an approved dump site and broom surface. Apply tack to surface. Install 2 inches 12.5mm topping. Asphalt will be compacted to proper density using vibratory steel wheel and pneumatic tire rollers. Hydrated lime will be added to asphalt. Traffic control is included for this scope.
