Oakwood Townhomes is a beautiful new subdivision located just north of Atlanta, and we were proud to handle the paving work for one of our long-time, loyal clients. The project specifications called for 6 inches of GAB base material, followed by 2 inches of 19mm asphalt binder and 1.5 inches of 9.5mm asphalt topping.

Hydrated lime was incorporated into both asphalt layers during production. This modification offers several performance benefits, including:

Improved resistance to moisture damage and stripping—especially for moisture-sensitive aggregates
Reduced asphalt content in the design mix
Enhanced toughness and resistance to cracking at low temperatures
Slower age hardening of the asphalt binder (the liquid component that holds the mix together)
Greater mixture stability and long-term durability
