PALISADES SUBDIVISION- DALLAS, GA

We were called on by one of our largest developers to place the final layer of asphalt topping on an unfinished sub-division. Scope of work required us to clean all surfaces, apply a liquid tack coat, then lay 1 inch (compacted thickness) of type 2, 9.5 mm asphalt topping, with hydrated lime additive, then roll to proper compaction. Some of the benefits of a hydrated lime additive are: reduction of moisture damage and stripping for moisture sensitive aggregates, reduction of the design asphalt content, improves toughness and resistance to fracture growth (cracking) at low temperatures (as to wintertime freeze), reduction of hardening of the asphalt binder due to age (brittleness), and increases mixture stability and durability.
This project also features our dual combination roller, with a steel drum on the front axle, and a rubber tire axel on the rear. This type of roller can help to achieve maximum density and compaction without the need of a large highway traffic roller and is approved for GA DOT projects.
